Schemes gated on who you are — plus the nomination loopholes almost nobody uses.
The nomination loophole Company Shop ×2 + CSSC ×6 — use someone else’s eligibility
Company Shop — surplus supermarket, ~50–70% below retail. Membership free + lifelong.
- Qualify yourself: NHS, care, police, fire, prison, forces, charity, RNLI / Red Cross / mountain rescue, FMCG, Blue Light, means-tested benefits / PIP, pensioners (16+).
- Or get nominated: every member can share with up to 2 people who don’t need to qualify. Ask one nurse, carer, charity worker, or retired parent for a spare slot.
CSSC (~£5.99/mo) — heritage days out, cinema, fitness. Public sector / forces (current, former, retired). Each member can invite up to 6 friends/family 18+ with the same benefits — no public-sector job required.

Union cashback & member perks Prepaid cashback cards, shopping portals, days out
Lots of unions include shopping cashback cards and member discount portals — that’s the money angle here. You can usually join even if your workplace doesn’t recognise the union.
- Union Prepaid Plus cashback card — many unions offer a branded version (UNISON, Usdaw, RMT, FBU and others via unionprepaid.com). Load money, spend at partner shops (often Asda, Sainsbury’s, Boots, M&S, Argos…), earn roughly 2.5–8% cashback with no credit check. Typical admin fee ~£2.95/mo — only worth it if you’ll use the partner shops enough.
- Member discount portals — Unite, UNISON Reward, GMB Extra and similar: holidays, appliances, cinema, insurance, days out. Check your union’s “member benefits / rewards” page.
- Examples to compare: GMB (broad + Extra discounts) · Unite (member deals portal) · Prospect (energy / tech / science) · UNISON / Usdaw (Prepaid Plus cashback).
Tip: if you’re already in a union, claim the cashback card / portal before paying for a separate perk club.

- Library card → PressReader — thousands of papers/magazines free at home. Often Ancestry in-branch too.
- Surplus food — Too Good To Go · Olio · Approved Food · Motatos · Oddbox.
- Cashback sites — TopCashback / Quidco (big wins on insurance, broadband, energy). Airtime Rewards for passive phone credit.
- Loyalty — Clubcard / Nectar are basically a surcharge if you skip them. Lidl Plus = points (1 per £1) in 2026.

Profession gates exist (gov, fire, post, police, forces, teachers, civil service, healthcare, finance) — plus a skimmed clause: any company Costco UK has pre-approved.

Disability & neurodivergence Railcard expansion, Access to Work, Purpl, CEA
- Disabled Persons Railcard — £20/yr (or £54/3yrs): 1/3 off for you and one adult companion. Expanded Mar 2026 (Blue Badge, bus pass, medical can’t-drive…). Sep 2026: neurodiversity route (autism/ADHD) — set a reminder; evidence rules TBC.
- Access to Work — grant (not a loan) for workplace support. Queue ~9 months — apply and forget.
- Purpl · Nimbus Access Card · CEA Card (free cinema companion ticket).
- PIP — if you might qualify, it cascades: Company Shop, Purpl, railcard now, local schemes.
